'How to Kazzum'
Kazzum Arts ran a week-long programme of training for our artist practitioners in September 2018. Over the 5-day intensive workshop held at the University of East London, we developed the artistic and relational skills of our facilitators to deliver our work with children and young people, particularly when working creatively within trauma impacted environments.
The programme of activity included seminar style learning including an introduction to coaching techniques, Trauma Informed Practice and creative approaches to Speech, Language and Communication Needs. We also developed our skills within workshops, including British Sign Language, Restorative Approaches to conflict and auto-ethnography. At the end of each day we participated in holistic workshops which included drama and movement therapy, vinyasa flow yoga, poetry and music activities.
This project was funded by Arts Council England’s Grants for the Arts programme and was facilitated by our Artistic Director Alex Evans. The week included contributions from Sheila Preston (Thriving Facilitators), Terence Bevington (Connexus Consultancy), Jodi-Lea Trowman (Love to Communicate), Dr Jonathan Barnes and Alex Ntung (Education 4 Diversity), Becky Bailey and Lisa Hayes (Kazzum Arts) and Becky Finlay-Hall.
