Light

Since 2018 Kazzum Arts have been delivering 4 day Christmas workshops at the Royal London Hospital exploring ideas around the curriculum theme of ‘Light’. We used philosophical questions as the basis for our inquiry with young people, for example “What is light?”, “Where does light come from?” and “How does light feel?” facilitating a diverse range of creative arts activities across the week.

Visual Artists Jon Van Beek and Anna Van Der Poorten created a range of activities for young people to take away from the sessions, including lantern making, blacklight drawing and window murals. Musician Joe Fleming introduced music and sound activities using interactive technology and storyteller Paul led story creation activities which incorporated drama and literacy. Activities were delivered within a Schoolroom and at bedside with young people. Parents, carers and staff supported the activities and encouraged the development of skills, reduction of anxiety and increase of social connections.
